I have counselling experience across a wide range of issues such as work-related stress, relationships, childhood sexual abuse, issues around sexual orientation or gender identity and many other of lifes challenges, both recent or historic.
My counselling style is humanistic and client-led. I aim to support you in a collaborative relationship to help you find the solutions you seek.
I offer confidentiality, warmth, compassion, honesty an open mind and at times... appropriate humour.
I work using an Integrative Model: simply put, this means I am trained to draw from several compatible theories and models to suit your particular situation.
I chose this approach as I am not a believer in a 'one size fits all' approach.
I am a registered member of the BACP, and am on the national voluntary register, meaning I adhere to and am covered by an ethical framework and code of conduct- designed to protect your best interests.
In addition to counselling and psychotherapy, I have worked as a director of a national lifestyles homewares store, managed a chain of charity shops and developed businesses as an entrepeneur.
I have more recently worked as a community advocate and support worker supporting those with diversity in their sexual orientation or gender identity, and have been a volunteer listener with The Devon Rape Crisis Service.
I currently coordinate a low cost counselling service for a South West based LGBT+ charity, co- run a practice rooms and training space in Exeter, co-run a specialist therapy listings directory and deliver specialist trainnig to therapists and other well-being professionals.
I have an affirmative approach to those with gender, sexual orientation, sexuality and relationship diversities
